Meet the Bund at Quintet B&B;
The chalk drawing might be our new symbol for Quintet Bed and Breakfast. Our guests are always asking where it is and love to take picture of it.
It's the Bund drawn by one of us, Po.
The Bund (Mandarin pinyin: Wàitān) is a must-see when you travel in Shanghai.
In 1920’s and 1930’s, the Shanghai Bund has dozens of historical buildings, lining the Huangpu River, that once housed numerous banks and trading houses from the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Italy, Russia, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as the consulates of Russia and Britain, a newspaper, the Shanghai Club and the Masonic Club.
However, it was not the Bund on the blackboard at beginning. :p Originally, Po drawn the Shanghai skyline when the renovation was finished. But the skyline drawing was complained by other staffs. "It's soooo boring and just doesn't look cool," said others. Po, in order to stand for his dignity as a professional architect; spent another afternoon to draw the Bund instead. Now sometimes, our guests might ask Po to stand in front of the Bund for them to take pictures. Though Po feels a little embarrassed doing so, he is really happy that guests love his work. :)
The original boring Shanghai skyline :p
Besides Po, our chef Weili has art talents too! We have three big paintings done by her at the other side of the first floor. Some dinner guests even ask if they can buy these paintings to have them decorated in their homes. Well. when we have free time to finish new paintings, maybe it is time to put them up for auction. :p
Other paintings by our chef of 808 Private Kitchen
By the way, our art talents are shown on lunch boxes as well! :p Are you able to guess which kind of dish each of them is?
